Hitachi Rail Italy has been awarded three Service contracts for a total amount of 108 million Euro. They are for the provision of maintenance of Frecciarossa 1000, Frecciarossa 500 and TSR regional trains. The new contracts include activities of control, monitoring and maintenance through the supply of materials and experienced skilled labour.
Hitachi Rail Italy has completed the supply for the second line of the urban transport system for the city of Florence and is now going to deliver further 7 trams for Line 3, all within the contractual deadlines.

Today Hitachi Rail Italy delivered train number 1 of the new automatic Lima Metro. The first 6 cars of the innovative train, built in Reggio Calabria were unloaded at the port of the Peruvian capital. The train, made of aluminium is 108 m long and 2,85 m wide, has a capacity of 166 seated and 1,105 standing passengers, and is capable of reaching a max speed of 90 km/h.

The HR team at Hitachi Rail Europe Ltd. (HRE) in Newton Aycliffe is celebrating after being crowned the HR&D team of the year at the North East of England CIPD awards. The Hitachi team was recognised at an industry event for its recruitment and training processes that have seen over 500 new people recruited from over 16,000 applications last year.

As part of a UK visit by the Prime Minister of Japan, Mr Shinzo Abe joined UK Prime Minister David Cameron for a tour of the rail facility, which will serve as one of the maintenance centres for new IEP trains.
