Hitachi Rail Italy Delivers the Last Tram For Line 2

Hitachi Rail Italy has completed the supply for the second line of the urban transport system of the Tuscan capital and is now going to deliver further 7 trams for Line 3, all within the contractual deadlines.

“We have fully satisfied the request of the customer with a product that has also met the appreciation of the passengers –  declares Maurizio Manfellotto, CEO of Hitachi Rail Italy – We are already equally working on the remaining vehicles, always to the same quality and reliability standards demonstrated by the first lot already in service
on Line 1”.

Designed to reach a speed of 70 km/h, the Sirio trams are articulated bidirectional 32 meters long vehicles, with completely low floor, air conditioning and a transport capacity of 202 passengers, as well as two areas equipped for disabled passengers.

The supply is part of the contract for the construction of Lines 2 and 3 awarded by “Tram di Firenze Spa”, authority of the Florence Municipality, to the group of companies of which Hitachi Rail Italy is part.

The fleets destined for Lines 2 and 3, that will connect Peretola Airport and Careggi Hospital respectively to Santa Maria Novella railway station, have the same exterior livery and interiors of the vehicles already in service on Line 1 and therefore can be deployed on each of the three lines.
