  • 150 new jobs created in Bristol area by Hitachi Rail Europe

    Hitachi Rail Europe is recruiting for 150 new roles at their Stoke Gifford depot. The recently built depot is hiring ahead of a new ‘bullet train inspired’ fleet entering service later this year. HRE will build upon the area’s engineering legacy, which includes transportation achievements such as Concorde, to develop a new long-term hub for skilled work.

  • Trenitalia and Hitachi Rail Italy present Rock

    This is the brand name chosen for the new double deck regional train Hitachi Rail Italy is building for Trenitalia. A mock-up scale 1:1 was unveiled at the Hitachi Rail Italy plant of Pistoia and the construction of the train started. The event was attended by Renato Mazzoncini, FS Italiane, Tiziano Onesti, Trenitalia, Barbara Morgante, Trenitalia, and Maurizio Manfellotto, Hitachi Rail Italy.

  • First Train for New Driverless Metro unveiled in Taipei

    Hitachi Rail Italy and Ansaldo STS today presented at the new Taipei maintenance facility, the first new driverless metro train (see picture) for DORTS (Department of Rapid Transit Systems), the local transport authority of Taipei Municipality (New Taipei City).

    Hitachi Rail Europe (HRE), a global rail specialist with over 100 years of industry expertise, today celebrates the first Intercity Express (IEP) train to be built in the UK at its manufacturing facility in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham.

  • Hitachi Rail Italy awarded Service contracts worth 108 million Euro

    Hitachi Rail Italy has been awarded three Service contracts for a total amount of 108 million Euro. They are for the provision of maintenance of Frecciarossa 1000, Frecciarossa 500 and TSR regional trains. The new contracts include activities of control, monitoring and maintenance through the supply of materials and experienced skilled labour.

  • The First Driverless Train of New Lima Metro, manufactured by Hitachi Rail Italy, arrives in Lima

    Today Hitachi Rail Italy delivered train number 1 of the new automatic Lima Metro. The first 6 cars of the innovative train, built in Reggio Calabria were unloaded at the port of the Peruvian capital. The train, made of aluminium is 108 m long and 2,85 m wide, has a capacity of 166 seated and 1,105 standing passengers, and is capable of reaching a max speed of 90 km/h.
