First Intercity Express Trains leave factory in Italy before travelling across Europe
The trains use parts supplied by businesses in South West of England
Passengers will benefit from more seats, more space and quicker journeys
New Intercity Express Trains manufactured in Italy for GWR’s Devon and Cornwall route (via Reading and Wiltshire) are to begin a rare journey across Europe.
The
TransPennine Express customers are a step closer to experiencing brand new, high quality trains as Hitachi begins work an intercity fleet to start service in 2019. Production work has begun on two test trains in Japan which will arrive in the UK in 2018. The modern Japanese bullet train inspired fleet is being built by Hitachi and financed by Angel Trains.
For the first time since the Metrorail system opened its doors to passengers back in 1984, the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) placed its first new train into service today – ushering in a new era of modern, high tech trains manufactured by Hitachi Rail Italy that will improve both service reliability and overall riding experience.
Hitachi Rail Italy and Trenitalia have invited the associations of disabled persons and consumers to Pistoia to show them in advance the real scale mock-up of the new Rock regional train and meet with Hitachi’s and Trenitalia's designers and technicians. (the US subsidiary of Ansaldo STS SpA), has been awarded a $400.5 million contract from Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) to provide a new metro fleet of railcars and a Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) system for the Baltimore Metro Subway Link.

Hitachi Rail Italy today announced that it has been awarded a contract worth 106 million EUR from Azienda Trasporti Milanesi (ATM) to manufacture an additional 15 “Leonardo” metro trains for the city of Milan. This contract, final option of the framework agreement for 60 trains signed in 2012, concerns the delivery of 9 trains for Line 1, and 6 trains for Line 2 of Milan metro.
This is the brand name chosen for the new double deck regional train Hitachi Rail Italy is building for Trenitalia. A mock-up scale 1:1 was unveiled at the Hitachi Rail Italy plant of Pistoia and the construction of the train started. The event was attended by Renato Mazzoncini, FS Italiane, Tiziano Onesti, Trenitalia, Barbara Morgante, Trenitalia, and Maurizio Manfellotto, Hitachi Rail Italy.
Hitachi Rail Europe (HRE), a global rail specialist with over 100 years of industry expertise, today celebrates the first Intercity Express (IEP) train to be built in the UK at its manufacturing facility in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham.
Hitachi Rail Italy has completed the supply for the second line of the urban transport system for the city of Florence and is now going to deliver further 7 trams for Line 3, all within the contractual deadlines.
