    Hitachi Rail Europe (HRE) was proud to host Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Prime Minister David Cameron at its recently refurbished North Pole train maintenance centre in West London. As part of a UK visit by the Prime Minister of Japan, Mr Shinzo Abe joined UK Prime Minister David Cameron for a tour of the rail facility, which will serve as one of the maintenance centres for new IEP trains.

  • Hitachi Rail Italy presents the first train of the new Metro of Honolulu

    Directly from Hawaii, Hitachi Rail Italy unveiled yesterday the first of 20, 4-cars vehicles planned for the new metro of Honolulu. Manufactured and assembled in Italy, at the factory in Reggio Calabria, the cars are completed, furnished and equipped with all the foreseen technological innovations, in the HRI site of Pittsburgh in California and transported to Hawaii.

  • TransPennine Express and Angel Trains orders 95 Inter-City rail carriages from UK manufacturer Hitachi

    The new TransPennine Express franchise, operated by FirstGroup has been given the go-ahead to complete a new rolling stock contract with Hitachi Rail Europe to supply 95 brand new, state of the art train carriages. The contract, for the fleet of AT300 ‘Inter City’ trains will lead to the procurement of 19 five-car Hitachi AT300 bi-mode trains, operating on both electric power and diesel power.

    The Ansaldo STS - Stadler consortium won contracts to modernize the subway of Glasgow with state-of-the-art technology, including the supply of 17 new trains, Communication Based Train Control driverless signalling technology, platform screen doors and depot equipment, and related maintenance support services to upgrade 10.5 km long twin subway lines, and 15 stations.
