Completed the construction of the first train of the new metro of Honolulu
Hitachi Rail Italy has finished the setting up of the first out of 20 vehicles with 4 cars planned for the new metro of Honolulu.
From the HRI facility in Pittsburg, California, the vehicle completed with interiors - destination the island of Hawaii - has in fact left.
The production had started in recent months at the factory in Reggio Calabria, in Italy, where the cars structures had been built and assembled, to be then completed and equipped with all the planned technological innovations.
The metro does have the peculiarity of being driverless, which is without driver, thanks to the sophisticated control systems of AnsaldoSTS, who leads the Joint Venture Ansaldo Honolulu JV, that includes HRI who is in charge of the construction of the entire vehicle.
The JV has a contract with HART (Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation) of over 1 billion and 300 million dollars.
