  • New Azuma trains arrive at UK port ahead of passenger services starting later this year

    Two brand new Hitachi test trains arrived at Teesport (Middlesbrough) after completing a two-month journey from Japan. The five-car trains will form part of Virgin Trains’ new Azuma fleet and will first be used for training on-board crew and drivers. The fleet of 65 Virgin Azuma trains will transform travel and customer experiences when they arrive on the East Coast Main Line from December 2018.

    Hitachi Rail Italy today announced that it has signed a contract with Metroselskabet, a partnership of the municipality of Copenhagen, the Danish Government and the city of Frederiksberg, for the supply of eight driverless trains for the M1/M2 lines of the Copenhagen Metro. The contract was signed on 7th March and has a value of approximately EUR 50 million.
