Hitachi and Bombardier, the UK-based global technology and engineering leaders who have joined forces in a bid to build the trains for HS2, are already attracting new British talent into the industry and developing the next generation of engineers. Today at the NCHSR in Doncaster, the companies are announcing the next step: A Global High Speed Rail Learning Programme.

Transmashholding and Hitachi to Produce Traction Inverters in Russia

JSC Transmashholding and Hitachi, Ltd. signed an agreement to localize production of traction inverters for passenger rail transport in the Russian Federation. The Transmashholding-Hitachi joint venture will use local manufacturing capacities to manufacture high-performance traction inverters. Transmashholding will own 51% of the JV authorized capital of 375 million RUB, Hitachi will own 49%.

Hitachi Rail Italy today announced that it has signed a contract with Metroselskabet, a partnership of the municipality of Copenhagen, the Danish Government and the city of Frederiksberg, for the supply of eight driverless trains for the M1/M2 lines of the Copenhagen Metro. The contract was signed on 7th March and has a value of approximately EUR 50 million.
