Hitachi Rail Italy and Ansaldo STS take part in the annual event organized by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) in Atlanta. APTA is an important opportunity for the rail sector involving manufacturers, suppliers and experts from all over the world. Focus for the two companies will be on products destined for the American market, including the new metro for Baltimore.

Hitachi Rail Italy and Trenitalia have invited the associations of disabled persons and consumers to Pistoia to show them in advance the real scale mock-up of the new Rock regional train and meet with Hitachi’s and Trenitalia's designers and technicians. The mock-up of the train will be the protagonist of the road show that from next October will present it in the main Italian squares.

New Intercity Express Trains for Devon and Cornwall begin testing

On Tuesday 8th August, the first of Great Western Railway’s Intercity Express Trains for Devon and Cornwall carried out test runs in Somerset, between Bruton and Cogload. Two more trains are due to arrive in the South West within the coming weeks as part of a comprehensive test programme.

New Hitachi trains pass Department for Transport digital tests

Hitachi’s new intercity trains, due to enter passenger service this autumn, have passed tests to run their digital technology required by the Department for Transport. The UK-built fleet, known as the Class 800s, is among the first in the country to successfully test an advanced level of digital signalling.

Hitachi Ansaldo Baltimore Rail Partners, LLC, a company established between Hitachi Rail Italy SpA and Ansaldo STS USA, Inc. (the US subsidiary of Ansaldo STS SpA), has been awarded a $400.5 million contract from Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) to provide a new metro fleet of railcars and a Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) system for the Baltimore Metro Subway Link.

Hitachi Rail Europe is on schedule to employ 250 people at their newly built Doncaster depot. Hitachi Rail Italy wins contract worth 106 million euros for additional 15 “Leonardo” metro trains from ATM

Hitachi Rail Italy today announced that it has been awarded a contract worth 106 million EUR from Azienda Trasporti Milanesi (ATM) to manufacture an additional 15 “Leonardo” metro trains for the city of Milan. This contract, final option of the framework agreement for 60 trains signed in 2012, concerns the delivery of 9 trains for Line 1, and 6 trains for Line 2 of Milan metro.

Hitachi Rail Europe is recruiting for 150 new roles at their Stoke Gifford depot. The recently built depot is hiring ahead of a new ‘bullet train inspired’ fleet entering service later this year. HRE will build upon the area’s engineering legacy, which includes transportation achievements such as Concorde, to develop a new long-term hub for skilled work.
