Press release -

Hitachi Rail Italy and Ansaldo STS at Expo Ferroviaria 2017

Hitachi Rail Italy and Ansaldo STS – since 2015 part of the Hitachi Group – will participate to the exhibition with a joint booth in which they will present their technology and their innovation that places them among the main players of the sector.

EXPO Ferroviaria represents for the two companies, more and more engaged on the international market and protagonists of events overseas (last May UITP in Montreal, from next 9th October in Atlanta at APTA), an important showcase, as well as a fundamental opportunity of discussion and business in their own Country, where they are committed to important projects, some already completed and others either in progress or in development.

“We will talk about the evolution and reliability of our products – says Maurizio Manfellotto, CEO Hitachi Rail Italy.

Thanks to our metros we are present in more and more cities worldwide, but Italy remains an essential focus for us with the high speed ETR1000 trains, now completed, the metros, many of which for the very city of Milan, the tramways, the activities of maintenance and full service, but above all with the new regional trains that we are manufacturing for Trenitalia.

The production of Rock, deriving from our double deck train platform Caravaggio for which Hitachi Rail Italy was last year awarded the largest tender in Italy for regional transport by Trenitalia, is being carried out in our factories. EXPO Ferroviaria will allow us to anticipate this innovative product by means of a video that will unveil its design and details. The mock-up of the train will be protagonist of the road show that will take it to many cities starting from Bologna on 9th October.

A regional train that promises a huge leap forward in terms of safety and comfort. This train was conceived with particular attention to the travel needs of disabled people, and with a reduced environmental impact. An ambitious project for which we can rely on the commitment of all Hitachi Rail Italy employees and on the technology of our plants.

Thanks, in fact, to the investments made by Hitachi Group, in Pistoia, Naples and Reggio Calabria we have state-of-the-art factories allowing us global market prospects with more and more competitive quality and delivery terms”. “EXPO Ferroviaria – declares Andy Barr, CEO Ansaldo STS - represents the most important Italian showcase of our technologies and, overall, of our industry.

Our presence in Milan means a lot to us, because we will have the possibility to display our main products and, most of all, to interact directly with our clients, customers, and visitors. We are proud to say that in Italy we played a pivotal role in the development of railways since the very beginning. Nowadays we’re still playing a central role in connecting pieces of this beautiful country, through two main activities: the Metro lines and the High Speed rail technology.

We have been key players in building and controlling the main Italian Metros like the ones in Rome, Milan, Naples, Genoa and Brescia. Every day, these lines move millions of people through these cities helping the improvement of their quality of life, which is a primary goal of our company. What we have done and we are doing within in the urban transport framework, we have done broadly with the High Speed rail technology as well. Thanks to that, and in particular to Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane and to our main partners, we are able to reduce distances, with a direct impact on people’s needs as well as on the Italian economy.

As Ansaldo STS we are proud to continue our technological efforts in order to improve the quality of the service for our clients and for our passengers. There are many challenges ahead, particularly in maintaining the high win percentage of good contracts, but we are well known as committed and reliable workers who are used to fulfil any task. We believe in innovation and our place within the Hitachi family secures the access to some exciting new products.
