Hitachi onboard ETCS technology successfully operating with Network Rail track-side system

Hitachi Rail Europe Ltd. today announced that its Onboard ETCS (European Train Control System) solution has successfully connected to the Network Rail Cambrian Line signalling system, and achieved ETCS Level 2 operation. The breakthrough came as part of Hitachi Rail Europe’s ‘Verification-Train 3’ project to trial ETCS onboard equipment in the UK.

Interfleet Appointed as Notified Body for Hitachi Rail Europe’s Fleet of Class 800 Series Trains for the Intercity Express Programme

Hitachi Rail Europe and Interfleet Certification, part of rail consultancy Interfleet Technology, today announced that Interfleet Certification has been appointed as the Notified Body (NoBo) and Designated Body (DeBo) for the prestigious Intercity Express Programme (IEP), which will provide Hitachi Super Express trains for both the Great Western Main Line and the East Coast Main Line.

Hitachi Receives Order for UK Railway Traffic Management System Prototype

Hitachi, Ltd. today announced that Hitachi Rail Europe Ltd. has received an order for a prototype traffic management system from Network Rail in England, Scotland and Wales. Network Rail will test and evaluate prototypes ordered and based on the outcome, it will make a decision regarding the future roll-out of traffic management across the entire rail network in Great Britain.
