Press release -
Hitachi Rail to renew CCTVs across over 50 stations on Singapore’s NSEWL
- Hitachi Rail and Strides Engineering are joining forces to renew CCTVs across Singapore’s North-South and East-West Lines (NSEWL)
- Project will enhance CCTV network infrastructure and camera capacity across Singapore’s most heavily used metro lines
- This is the second project on NSEWL undertaken by Hitachi Rail, after the successful signalling system upgrade commissioned in 2018.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore has awarded Hitachi Rail, in consortium with Strides Engineering, the comprehensive renewal of CCTV systems across the North-South and East-West Lines. Covering more than 50 stations, the project aims to enhance the CCTV network infrastructure and camera capacity across Singapore’s oldest and most heavily utilised metro lines.
At its core, the upgrade features a centralised Video Management System (VMS) and Video Transmission Network (VTN) to manage both new and existing cameras across the NSEWL stations.
Hitachi Rail will provide the overall system solution and Strides Engineering will conduct the physical deployment. The combined expertise will ensure each station is equipped with state-of-the-art security technology that is seamlessly integrated into the Operations Control Centre.
On Singapore’s NSEWL, Hitachi Rail is also delivering the signalling system renewal, a project commissioned in 2017 for the North-South Line, followed by the East-West Line in 2018. This is one of the largest re-signalling projects in the world. With this new CCTV project, NSEWL will be further enhanced in operational efficiency for CCTV monitoring and passenger safety, marking a step forward in the evolution of Singapore's public transport infrastructure.
Benoît Couture, Vice-President of Integrated Communication and Supervision Systems (ICS) at Hitachi Rail GTS, said: “We are committed to bolstering passenger security in Singapore’s public transportation with our cutting-edge solutions. We are grateful for the confidence by LTA in this extensive project as a technology provider”
Tang Yu Feng, General Manager of Hitachi Rail GTS Singapore, said: “Our partnership with Strides Engineering forms a strong team to ensure high level of customer commitment. Our CCTV solution will enhance security on Singapore’s oldest and most heavily used lines.”
