- The contract includes a complete overhaul of the central systems, the installation of new screens at 10 stations, and the implementation of passenger address systems at all stations
- Hitachi Rail will deliver its state-of-the-art APIS (Advanced Passenger Information System) solution, already in use at Metro do Porto and Infraestruturas de Portugal.
Hitachi Rail has been awarded a contract to deliver its cutting-edge APIS solution for Lisbon Metro, enabling real-time traffic information broadcasts and supporting a wide range of multimedia formats. This scalable and modular system will empower Lisbon Metro to advance the digitisation of information across its entire network, including rolling stock and surface-level data.
This contract represents the revival of a partnership between Hitachi Rail and Lisbon Metro. It also solidifies Hitachi Rail’s homegrown APIS solution, which will now be operational across Portugal's three main rail transport infrastructures: Lisbon Metro, Porto Metro, and Infraestruturas de Portugal.
The agreement strongly aligns with Hitachi Rail's broader mission to enhance connectivity, streamline journeys, and promote sustainable transport for passengers, customers, and communities alike.
João Araújo, President of the Board of Directors at Hitachi Rail GTS Portugal, said:
