A new contract worth 190 million euro for regional trains
A contract worth 190 million euro for Hitachi Rail Italy. The rail company was awarded a contract by Trenitalia for the supply of new regional trains for the FS commuter service.
In the specific case the operator has exercised the right of option provided for in the contract signed in March 2010. The supply contract is for a total of112 intermediate double-deck coaches and 24 driving cars, all of 2nd class.
According to the organization of production in place,the trains will be manufactured in the HRI plants of Pistoia and Reggio Calabria (the part strictly related to the vehicle) while components and electronics will be manufactured in the HRI plant of Naples.
