Hitachi Receive International Certification in Wireless Signaling Systems for Urban Transport

Hitachi, Ltd. announced that it received Safety Integrity Level 4 (SIL 4), an international safety standard for reliability, availability, maintainability and safety (RAMS) in wireless signaling systems for urban transport. SIL 4, the highest safety level attainable, conforms with the IEEE 1474 Standard for Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) Performance and Functional Requirements.

Hitachi Rail Europe Manufacturing Plant –Start of Construction Phase Ceremony with Rt Hon Dr Vince Cable MP and Rt Hon Patrick McLoughlin MP

Hitachi Rail Europe and developer Merchant Place Developments choose Darlington office of Shepherd, to build the train factory Hitachi Rail Europe Ltd announced the appointment of the construction contractor to build their new manufacturing plant in the North East of England. Darlington-based lead contractor Shepherd has been appointed to build the plant with work set to start later this year.

Knorr-Bremse to Equip New UK Hitachi Trains

Hitachi Rail Europe announced that it has signed a contract with Knorr-Bremse which will see Knorr-Bremse supplying the braking system for the new Hitachi Class 800 series trains. The signing took place at the Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems UK (KBRS) facility at Melksham in Wiltshire at a ceremony which was attended by senior representatives of Hitachi Rail Europe and the entire workforce of KBRS.
