Hitachi Rail ships Train 1 of the Class 800 series from its factory in Kasado, Japan

The train is the first pre-series train for the UK's Intercity Express Programme. It has been manufactured in Hitachi Rail's Kasado factory (Japan) and was shipped from there on 7th January 2015. The train is set to arrive in the UK in March 2015 for subsequent testing.

株式会社日立製作所(執行役社長兼COO:東原敏昭／以下、日立)は、2014年11月に公開した英国運輸省(DfT : Department for Transport)の都市間高速鉄道計画(IEP : Intercity Express Programme)向け車両の先行生産車両1編成を完成させ、本日、笠戸事業所(山口県下松市)より出荷を開始しました。なお、本プロジェクトは英国運輸省が主導するPPP(Public Private Partnership)スキームで実施されており、株式会社国際協力銀行および、独立行政法人日本貿易保険などによる金融支援を受けています。

Hitachi Begins Shipment of Trains from Kasado Works for the UK Intercity Express Programme

Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE:6501, “Hitachi”) announced today that it has begun shipment of the first completed pre-series Class 800 train unveiled in November 2014. The train has been produced for the UK Department for Transport’s Intercity Express Programme (IEP), and following its recent completion is now being shipped from Kasado Works in Kudamatsu City, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
