Hitachi Rail ships Train 1 of the Class 800 series from its factory in Kasado, Japan

The train is the first pre-series train for the UK's Intercity Express Programme. It has been manufactured in Hitachi Rail's Kasado factory (Japan) and was shipped from there on 7th January 2015. The train is set to arrive in the UK in March 2015 for subsequent testing.

Hitachi, Ltd. announced today that it has begun shipment of the first completed pre-series Class 800 train unveiled in November 2014. The train has been produced for the UK Department for Transport’s Intercity Express Programme (IEP), and following its recent completion is now being shipped from Kasado Works in Kudamatsu City, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
