Hitachi Rail Europe Vehicle Manufacturing Facility at Newton Aycliffe

Once completed, the facility will serve as Hitachi Rail Europe’s facility for train manufacturing. It will be the base for the construction of the new Great Western Main Line and East Coast Main Line trains the company is building for the Government’s Intercity Express Programme (IEP), as well as the new AT200 trains for Abellio’s ScotRail franchise.

Hitachi Rail Europe Celebrates Topping Out of its Train Factory, Announces Establishment of UK Design Office in Newton Aycliffe

Hitachi Rail Europe celebrated the completion of the building envelope of its Rail Vehicle Manufacturing Facility in Newton Aycliffe. During the event, Keith Jordan announced that Hitachi had also established its UK Design Office in the new facility. The Design Office will initially comprise of 12 staff, with four Design Engineers already on board and more roles advertised on the Hitachi website.
