Melton Mowbray, April 27th, 2015 – GB Railfreight today celebrated its relationship with Hitachi Rail Europe by naming one its Class 66 locomotives ‘Inspiration Delivered’ at Network Rail’s Rail Innovation Development Centre (RIDC, formerly known as Old Dalby).
Hitachi Rail Europe announced today that it has been named by FirstGroup as preferred supplier, subject to contract, for the supply of 29 trains for the new First Great Western franchise, subject to approval by the Department for Transport.The 29 bi-mode AT300 trains would run primarily from London Paddington to Plymouth and Penzance, replacing 40-year-old High Speed Trains on the intercity route.

Hitachi Rail Europe and Abellio today announced that they have signed a contract for the provision and maintenance of 70 new trains for the upcoming ScotRail franchise. The trains are financed by Caledonian Rail Leasing. 46 three-car and 24 four-car AT200 EMU trains are procured to operate along the Edinburgh-Glasgow and Stirling – Alloa –Dunblane lines and will go into service in late 2017.

(TSE: 6501, “Hitachi”) today announced that it has won an additional order for 16 TEMU1000 tilting rail cars (two train sets) for a limited express service from the Taiwan Railway Administration (“TRA”) of Taiwan. The rail cars are to be delivered within the 2015/16 financial year, and scheduled to enter service from June 2016 onwards.

Hitachi, Ltd. announced that it has secured a S$30million (2.7billion yen) contract with Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) through Hitachi Asia Ltd. to enhance the capability of the Sentosa Express light rail system, with a new Wireless Signaling System (CBTC*1) and another train set (comprising two carriages). The enhancement will enable the Sentosa Express to cater to more passengers.
Hitachi announced today that it has unveiled the first train being manufactured for the UK Department for Transport’s Intercity Express Programme (IEP). The order for these new trains was received back in July 2012 and the first pre-series models are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2014. They will then be shipped to the UK for test operations in the first half of 2015.

Hitachi Rail today hosted an event at international transport trade fair InnoTrans in Berlin to celebrate its key suppliers to the Intercity Express Programme (IEP). The event was attended by the head of the UK Department for Transport’s Rail Executive, and representatives of over 30 international suppliers to the programme.
