  • Hitachi Rail Europe Wins First Traffic Management Contract in UK

    Hitachi Rail Europe (HRE) today held a ceremonial event at its Global Headquarters in London to mark the awarding and signing of the Thameslink contract for Traffic Management (TM) in partnership with Network Rail Infrastructure Limited (“Network Rail”).

  • Hitachi on-board ETCS – Network Rail Contract Award

    Hitachi Rail Europe today announced that it has signed a contract with Network Rail for implementation of the European Train Control System on two Class 37 locomotives. The project work includes the design, vehicle modification, ETCS installation, testing and commissioning of Hitachi’s ETCS for West Coast Railways, for operational use on the Cambrian Line ERTMS in Wales.

  • Hitachi onboard ETCS technology successfully operating with Network Rail track-side system

    Hitachi Rail Europe announced that its Onboard ETCS (European Train Control System) successfully connected to the Network Rail Cambrian Line signalling system, and achieved ETCS Level 2 operation. This is part of Hitachi’s ‘Verification-Train 3’ project to trial ETCS equipment in the UK. The Class 97301 locomotive was successfully retro-fitted with the Hitachi system proving interoperability.

  • Hitachi Receives Order for UK Railway Traffic Management System Prototype

    Hitachi Rail Europe has received an order for a prototype traffic management system from Network Rail in England, Scotland and Wales. Network Rail will test and evaluate prototypes ordered from Hitachi and two other companies, and based on the outcome, it will make a decision regarding the future roll-out of traffic management across the entire rail network in Great Britain.
